Ski/Snowboard Conditioning Class Flyer
Welcome to my home page. I work in the Sports Medicine Center here at Kaiser Permanente, South Sacramento. I evaluate and treat competitive and recreational athletes, as well as other active people who are suffering from injuries, overuse conditions, or other sports related medical problems. The goal of the center is to get injured people back into the game and to encourage less active people to get into the game. We currently offer an ACL Injury prevention course and a ski and snowboard conditioning class. There are plans to expand services that the Sports Medicine Center will provide in the future. Stay tuned!
About Me
I feel well suited for my role as a sports medicine physician. I played multiple sports growing up in the Bay Area. It didn't take too long to realize that my high school hurdling career wasn't going to take off. (Not winning a single race was one clue.) So I decided to focus my energy and talent on soccer. I headed to southern California for college and played four years of soccer for UCLA. Having suffered injuries of my own, I know what it's like to be sidelined due to an injury.
Although I have since hung up my soccer cleats, I still make an effort to remain active. I enjoy running, mountain biking, hiking and tennis. When the fluffy white stuff starts to fall in the Sierras, you'll find me carving up the slopes on my snowboard or trying my luck on telemark skis.
My Training
After completing my residency training in Family Medicine, I treated broken bones and other injuries here at the Kaiser South Sacramento Fracture Clinic. I also interned with UC Berkeley Sports Medicine providing medical coverage for their football team as well as for other Cal athletes.
Then I traveled to the University of Colorado for a one-year fellowship/subspecialty training in Sports Medicine. Aside from regular clinic duties, I was a team physician for both the University of Colorado and Denver University athletic teams. I treated athletes in the training rooms and provided sideline medical coverage for the University of Colorado football team, two-time national champion Denver University hockey team, as well as the soccer teams at both schools.
My Practice Philosophy
I am dedicated to providing high quality care to my patients. I am also a firm believer in the importance of the patient playing an active role in their treatment and recovery. This is why I like to spend time educating patients about their condition and making a treatment plan together.
I encourage people to take responsibility for their own health. Being active is a great way to enjoy life and stay healthy. If you are looking to become more active or lose weight, great! Check out the links I have provided in the navigation tool bar to the left for some helpful ideas.
For all you skiers and snowboarders, it's time to get ready to safely hit the slopes. Use my Ski Conditioning tips to get your body prepared. Check out my Snowsport Safety Tips before heading up to the mountains.
