I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and have always been closely tied to it. I left to attend Brown University in Rhode Island, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biomedical Ethics, which is a humanity-based approach to medicine.

I returned to Chicago for medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and stayed to complete an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. During residency, I received several medical student teaching awards, as well as the Reis resident research award.

In a teaching hospital, there are a lot of moving parts: medical students, residents, nurses, specialist doctors, not to mention the support staff. I like being part of that team and go out of my way to being plugged in with each group. Communication is an important aspect of practicing medicine, and I strongly believe in communicating with my patients and the health care team around me.

I love design of all kinds- from the skyscrapers of my home city to the public art in the streets of San Francisco (and even the shoes on my feet!), I have always wanted to invent something and patent it. In the meantime, I love the tools I have learned in my career; a good example is my interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Other interests include preventative medicine and public health measures.

After countless cold winters, I have come to my senses finally and have made the move west into the sunshine, and look forward to making California my home. Travel is one of my favorite things, and I have always made time to see the world one week off at a time. I speak fluent Mandarin and look forward to improving my medical vocabulary at work.
