About me

"My practice philosophy is to provide optimal patient health and well being, by working as an advisor, advocate and health educator. I believe in using internet resources, electronic medical records and new technology in enhancing patient-doctor communication and overall medical care."

Dr. Shy grew up in the south bay area. He attended UC Berkeley for his undergraduate degree and graduated with honors in Molecular and Cellular biology.

At UC Berkeley, Dr. Shy also volunteered at the Oakland Children’s hospital and community free clinics. He worked as a medical assistant during college and it was during this time that he developed an interest in medicine.

Dr. Shy graduated from medical school from the University of California, Davis. His residency training in internal medicine was in Portland at Oregon Health and Science University. During residency, he developed a strong interest in primary care. He enjoyed developing lasting relationships with patients and working with multi-specialty teams towards improving overall care.

Dr. Shy is also interested in computer informatics and strongly supports using technology to enhance physician patient communication and medical care in general.

Preventative health, medical informatics, cardiology and nephrology are some of Dr. Shy's medical interests. He speaks some Spanish. When away from the clinic, Dr. Shy enjoys basketball, reading, gardening and playing the guitar. He especially likes watching the 49ers and the Golden State Warriors.
